Hi folks — its workshop time again.
We kick off on August 6th with a taster of the effect Kettlebells can have on our Pilates classes.
This fantastic (low cost ) piece of equiptment can help our clients burn a whopping 20 calories per minute. Imagine in your 1 hour class if you put a small Kettlebell routine in for 30 minutes your clients would burn 600 calories !!! how fantastic is that
check out the link attached to see what other brilliant workshops we have lined up for you from August to December of 2011
Check out BODYFIRM workshops here
As always call the studio to book 01 868 4600 – looking forward to hearing from and seeing you all soon

Hi everyone – ok its not sunny but it is still a wonderful day.
How about taking a few minutes today for your self and experience the benefits of 360° Pilates. Here is a little routine I have just completed earlier this morning I hope you feel as good following it as I do.
Breath deeply as you perform each movement – clear your mind and give YOURSELF
- Standing breath – 10 rounds of breating circling the arms
- Forward bend – just hang and enjoy for 2 minutes breath into any tight spots
- Cat to camel – 10 rounds to loosen up that tired spine
- Swan dive – just hold it here and breath – 1 to 2 minutes
- Hundred – just hold and feel the breath going wide and full 1 to 2 minutes
- Rolling ball – stretch and massage your spine 1 minute
- Saw – dont forget to honor centre as you rotate from side to side 1 mintue
- Mermaid 3 repitations but hold each one in strech for 30seconds
- Star - hold for up to 1 minute (if you get tired go onto your forearm )
- Repeat on opposite side
- Plank – hold for 1 to 2 minutes (again if you tire go to forearms)
- Now just sit and breath for up to 5 minutes clear your mind

You can do this even at your desk. Sit tall shouders back and feet flat to the floor.
As you mentally count to 3 inhale, as the non breath appears again mentally count to 3 and again as you exhale count to 3 and repeat that 3 count rhythm. Repeat the cyle 5-10 times, or as much as your schedule will allow. Enjoy breathing J

Reading the following on Chopra web site today (www.chopra.com)- sparked an idea
“Studies have shown that it takes 21 days of consistent behavior to change a habit or create a new one, such as establishing a regular exercise routine, eating a healthier diet, or taking time each day for self-care”
As Pilates Professionals we know this – even Joseph Pilates himself in ‘Contrology” comment “Remember too that Rome was not built in a day and PATIENCE and PERSISTENCE are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavor”
So only 21 days of persistent Pilates practice creating a Pilates ritual – you will have transformation – not only will you improve your posture – your shape but with attention at the start and end of practice to the Pilates breath – you will relax your mind
So will you join me – Starting Jan 2th for a 21 day Pilates challenge – practice at any level that suits you – don’t overdo anything – the challenge is to finish to practice with Patience and above all PERSISTENCE

Hi Folks
just a quick note to say a big congratulations to our new Advanced and Diploma Mat Instructors. The practical assessments on Saturday where of a very high standard.
Now you know what I am going to say next !! now that you have reached that standard DONT lose it by not practicing — in Pilates ‘we need to sweat the small stuff ‘ all those small details of hands / feet – core connections – and we can only do that by consistent practice.
So guys please please keep the practice up and maintain that standard – dont make it just a one day exam wonder !!
Keep an eye on the post – Certs and Diplomas on the way
Again well done
Regards Joyce and all at BODYFIRM

Pilates helps your body stay young, fit, and full of vitality.
As Joe himself once said, “With body, mind, and spirit functioning perfectly as a coordinated whole, what else could reasonably be expected other than an active, alert, disciplined person.”Joseph Pilates, Return to Life Through Contrology
So today be gentle with your self, eat well and move to attend to your body, take some quite time and calm your mind and replenish your spirit.
Have a wonderful day
